What year did you join Blackman & Sloop?

Where did you go to college?
I received my Bachelors in Economics from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and received a Bachelors and Masters of Science in Accounting at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Why did you choose Blackman & Sloop?
When I interviewed, I knew there was something special about this place. Over the past 20 years, I have worked a few places but none of them compare to the way Blackman & Sloop acknowledges, appreciates and genuinely cares about their employees and clients. As an employee you feel like you have a daily stake in the company’s success. Senior Management is approachable and receptive to new ideas making the firm culture very open/transparent and inviting to others on the outside. When Blackman & Sloop says they “Pay It Forward”, they honestly do that with both their staff, clients and the community.  There is an awesome work/life balance, genuine and caring individuals to work with daily and a family atmosphere that most companies do not have. We have fun and get our work done while doing it. I also get to come to work and do what I LOVE every day. I have a long commute every day, but it is well worth it. It enables me to enhance and broaden my expertise in ways that I never thought imaginable and learn from some of the best in the industry. The client interaction is an extreme PLUS for me as well, as I get to connect with all types of people daily and assist them with whatever they need.

What do you enjoy most about living in The Triangle?
I live in Burlington where most of my family resides and was born and raised in Graham. I love working in the Triangle though. It allows me to be close to my old stomping grounds here in Chapel Hill during my college years which I treasure and holds a very special place in my heart. And it is also close to a few shops and malls as well.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I would probably live in Florida. My family and I seem to travel there almost every year for family vacations and we love the area, whether it be going to Disney World or going to the fabulous beaches. We love the weather and atmosphere is very relaxing and calming.
