04 May In the Firm – May 2026
Here is what the firm has been up to since our last newsletter.
New Hires:
We are pleased to welcome two new team members to Blackman & Sloop:
- Scott Grogan joined the team as an Audit Manager.
- Maclain Coords joined the team as a Tax Associate.

We are glad to have both of them on board and look forward to all they’ll bring to the firm.
Conferences/Seminars/Events:
We wrapped up our Spring Recruiting Events with:
NCSU – Accounting Networking Night (February 4)
NCSU Accounting Society Presentation (March 4)
UNC-Greensboro Beta Alpha Psi Meeting Presentation (April 13)

Office Happenings:
There’s been no shortage of activity around the office these past few months—even in the middle of a busy tax season, the team found meaningful ways to recharge and enjoy time together.
Between deadlines, we made it a point to build in small moments of connection and fun with:
- An in-office chocolate tasting to satisfy a few sweet cravings

- Bar Cart Thursdays to kick off a relaxed end to the week

- An ongoing puzzle in the breakroom for a quick mental reset

- A wellness committee–led walking group twice a week during lunch
Each of these gave the team a chance to step away, reset, and come back refreshed.
And of course, April 15 called for a proper celebration. Once the deadline was behind us, we celebrated the finish line with well-earned margaritas, delicious Mexican food, and the chance to finally relax and enjoy time together after a demanding season.

We also took time to celebrate Administrative Professionals Day and recognize the incredible individuals who keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes: Joe, Shanita, Jasmine, Jude and Cristina.

Their organization, responsiveness, and attention to detail make a meaningful impact every single day. They are often the first to step in, solve a problem, or keep things moving without missing a beat. We are truly grateful for their dedication and proud to have them as such an essential part of the firm.
