14 Jan Employee Spotlight: Conor Weeks
Conor Weeks joined Blackman & Sloop in January 2025, bringing experience from a range of small to mid-sized accounting firms.
When asked why he chose Blackman & Sloop, Conor described it as the rare “Goldilocks” fit. In his words, smaller firms often provide more individualized service but can lack opportunities for collaboration, while larger firms may have more resources but sometimes lose the personal touch with clients and experience higher turnover. At Blackman & Sloop, Connor saw the best of both worlds: a firm that has kept its close-knit culture while building strong partnerships that provide deeper expertise and the ability to support even the most complex clients. He also noted how strongly the firm invests in and cares for its employees—something that stood out immediately.
Of the firm’s core values, Conor connects most with “Take fun seriously.” He appreciates that while accounting naturally leans serious, the people at Blackman & Sloop understand the value of intentionally loosening the tie and enjoying the work along the way.
What Conor enjoys most about working in accounting is the combination of problem-solving and relationship-building. While he was initially drawn to the field for the technical challenges, he’s found the most fulfillment in developing strong client relationships and helping clients work through difficult situations. He also values the impact of the work, taking compliance and bookkeeping burdens off business owners and individuals so they can spend more time focusing on what they love.
Outside of work, Conor’s world revolves around his family. He enjoys spending time with his wife Jackie and their one-year-old son, Will. When he’s not in full family mode, you can likely find him playing ice hockey or enjoying music, whether that means playing, listening, or catching live shows. In fact, Connor and his family have a goal of attending around 10 concerts a year, keeping life full and fun.
