Lindsey Beane, Client Accounting & Advisory Services Associate
Lindsey starts her day by 7:00 AM, coffee in hand, with a planner by her side and a clear game plan for the hours ahead. As part of the CAAS team, she handles bill pay, payroll, and reconciliations to help businesses and nonprofits stay financially organized. But Lindsey’s days aren’t just spreadsheets and journal entries. She builds in time for networking events, which allow her to stay energized, meet new people, and stay connected to the community.
“The flexibility here is incredible,” she says. “During busy months like May, I can work early mornings or evenings so I don’t miss important family moments—like my daughter’s school events.”
When she’s not working, Lindsey enjoys gardening and vermicomposting. At work, she’s actively involved in Women of Ascend and business development meetings and is currently preparing for her CMA exam with the firm’s full support.

Stephen Dallara, Tax Associate
Stephen joined Blackman & Sloop after completing a Master of Accounting program, drawn in by the firm’s welcoming culture. As a Tax Associate, his days are structured and purpose-driven. He kicks things off around 7:30 AM by checking emails and reviewing priorities, then sets task reminders to keep everything on track.
During busy season, he shifts into high gear — often working longer weeks focused on return preparation and client inquiries. But even then, he feels supported.
“There’s a sense of camaraderie here, even during the busiest times. People check in on each other,” he says.
Outside of work, Stephen is an avid walker, history buff, and fisherman. He appreciates Blackman & Sloop’s encouragement to take PTO and its flexible approach to remote work, even though he mostly chooses to work in-office.

Kristen Pate, Audit Associate
After gaining experience at a larger firm, Kristen was ready for a change — one that prioritized collaboration and connection. She found exactly that at Blackman & Sloop. Now eight months into her role as an Audit Associate specializing in nonprofits, Kristen has settled into a rhythm that blends structure with flexibility.
Her day typically kicks off at 8:30 AM, with her focus centered on one client at a time. “I map out my week every Monday and adjust as needed,” she shares. “Afternoons are usually reserved for wrapping up prior audits or preparing 990 filings.”
What stands out most for Kristen is the strong sense of teamwork. “We all have our individual responsibilities, but we come together to support each other and make sure everyone has what they need to succeed.”
Outside of work, Kristen recharges at the gym, enjoys quality time with friends, and dotes on her Doberman Pinscher, Romeo. The firm’s flexibility, especially during unexpected personal matters, has made a meaningful difference in her work-life balance.
