Why did you choose Blackman & Sloop?
I got a really good feeling about the leadership team, the staff, and the direction they want to take the firm. They are working to grow the firm and doing it in a way that still offers balance personally and professionally by making changes proactively instead of reactively.
What are your favorite ways to practice positivity?
Hunting the good stuff! It is easy to be overcome by negativity so I make a conscious effort to look out for the good that is going on around me. I often use the example that when/if you get into a car accident, the frustration associated with that is immediately felt, but on a day you’re not in an accident that is often just seen as a normal day even though it’s a good thing to have gotten where you were going without issues.
Which one of Blackman & Sloop’s core values resonates the most with you and why?
Foster a positive team and family spirit. This is most important to me because I see it as the foundation. Being in the workplace is a much more enjoyable time when people want to be together versus feeling like there is an obligation. It would also be very hard to maintain the other core values if the team is not in a good place.
If you could have lunch with any person living or dead who would it be and why?
My grandma Gayle! She and I were very close while I was growing up in Michigan but unfortunately, she passed when I was just a teenager. I would love the opportunity to talk to her about my wife and kids, personal/professional growth, my experience in the military, and all that other good stuff.
