What year did you join Blackman & Sloop?
I joined Blackman & Sloop in November of 2020.
Where did you go to college?
I spent 5 lovely years in Raleigh, NC at the best college/university in North Carolina: NC State. Go Pack!
Why did you choose Blackman & Sloop?
This is a hard question to directly answer. The reason I initially chose Blackman & Sloop was because of its great reputation in the accounting community and the opportunity to professionally grow. Now, having been part of the Blackman & Sloop family for 7 months, I would have to say the #1 reason I love being here is: The people I work with. It is really refreshing to be able to work with people who are driven and foster the team spirit the way everyone at Blackman & Sloop does.
What are your favorite ways to practice positivity?
This year I have really been putting an effort into being more mindful. I use the Headspace app and try to do at least 10 mins of meditation once a day. I don’t always find time every day, but when I do find time, I am in a more positive state of mind afterward.
If you could have lunch with any person living or dead who would it be and why?
I want to preface by saying there are so many people that fit this prompt, I had a really hard time choosing only one. If I only get one, I would choose to have lunch with Eluid Kipchoge (professional runner). The first reason being, I was once (long ago) a pretty competitive runner and am amazed by his ability. The dedication it takes day in and day out to be that great at anything, especially running, is extraordinary. The second reason is he is a very “zen” person and is the embodiment of the “chop wood, carry water” philosophy. I like/am interested in both of those concepts and would love to talk with him about how he uses or approaches them.
