What year did you join Blackman & Sloop?
I joined B&S in August 1998 after moving from Pennsylvania.
Where did you go to college?
I went to the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania and graduated in May 1992.
Why did you choose Blackman & Sloop?
When I decided to move to NC in 1998, I knew I wanted to move to the Triangle area. While job searching in the local newspaper (back in the day before online job postings!), I came across an ad for B&S, and sent in a resume. After interviewing with the firm, and meeting several partners and staff, I knew immediately it was not the ordinary CPA firm. Within a few months on the job I knew it was a place I wanted to stay and grow my career.
What do you enjoy most about living in The Triangle?
The best part of living in the Triangle is the variety of activities that are readily available. My family and I have enjoyed baseball games for the Bulls, Grasshoppers, Royals, and Tar Heels; Hurricanes hockey games; weekend trips to the beach and mountains; and to my wife’s surprise I even accompanied her to several broadway shows at the DPAC.
What is the most unusual food you’ve ever eaten?
My son bought me some chocolate covered grasshoppers and ants. The grasshoppers were uneventful, but after putting the ants in my mouth and getting through the chocolate, let’s just say I won’t be trying the ants again any time soon.
