Dr. John Christensen grew up in Waterloo, Iowa. After completing his undergraduate and dental school education, he moved to North Carolina in 1982 to begin his dental residency training. He opened his practice in Durham in 1987.
In 2013, Dr. Christensen partnered with Dr. Dolan Frye to form Durham Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics. Dr. Frye is originally from Greenville, South Carolina. He graduated from Clemson University with a BS in Biological Sciences and then went on to attend dental school at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Durham Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics’ goal is to help your child become comfortable and cooperative with dental care and to develop a positive attitude towards dentistry that will last a lifetime. Providing education to both children and adults, the team helps children to feel more confidant that they will leave with healthy teeth and positive feelings towards good dental hygene. They emphasize the prevention of disease rather than wait for it to occur.
Dr. Christensen is one of a handful of practitioners in the United States who has specialty training to practice both pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. This unique combination of specialties allows children to receive comprehensive pediatric dental and orthodontic care in one office.
Dr. Christensen is Board Certified with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He has served on committees to prepare test questions for the National Pediatric Dental Board Exam and the American Dental Association’s National Board Dental Exam.
Dr. Frye completed his Pediatric Dental residency training at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, one of the top pediatric dental programs in the country. Dr. Frye’s training included extensive clinical experience in providing comprehensive dental care for infants, children and teenagers as well as medically compromised patients and patients with special needs.
